The term "Patriots Day Shootout" refers to the violent confrontation that occurred in Watertown, Massachusetts, during the early hours of April 19, 2013. This incident was the culmination of a large-scale manhunt following the Boston Marathon bombing, which took place on Patriots' Day, April 15, 2013. The shootout involved law enforcement officials and the two perpetrators of the bombing, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, as authorities closed in on their location. The events leading to the confrontation began with the carjacking of a vehicle in Cambridge by the Tsarnaev brothers. This led to a pursuit by local police departments and the Massachusetts State Police, which ended in a residential neighborhood of Watertown.
